The Top 3 Things You Need To Start Your Business

Welcome to the Slutrepreneur Business School where we help you get started with your badass business adventures.

Lesson One: To begin you will need to do three key things to get started with your official business. As tempting as it may seem to jump right into hosting a website, or getting on OnlyFans without an official title for yourself, we suggest doing a bit more digging first. For one, if you haven’t done your research ahead of time to determine whether or not someone else has a similar brand to you, then you will be shit out of luck when it comes to claiming your own content. For example, you must first confirm that your brand is unique to you. You cannot claim something as your own if it already exists.

So without further ado, let's get into three essentials that will help you build a strong foundation for your business.

  • Vision
  •     Who are you and what are you offering that is unique to the space that you’re entering? Perhaps you want to get into selling custom used clothing and have a specialty with lace products. Whatever “it” may be, it’s essential that you stick to your vision to help stay consistent as your brand grows and evolves.  If you can’t think of anything right off the bat, it might be a good idea to get back to the drawing board and further your research.

  • Registration
  •     We can totally understand how overwhelming something like registering a business can feel, especially if you are someone who does not have previous business experience. We promise it’s far more simple than you may assume. You will need to have a business name to get started. Note that if you don’t have an exact name in mind yet that it's ok, because you can always adjust later and file a DBA (doing business as). You will need to determine whether you want your business to be a single member LLC, LLC Partnership, S Corp, or C Corp.

Here is a visual to help everything make sense.

You can go to your state’s business registration website and typically file for anywhere between $100-$400 (depending on where you live). Once filed and approved you will receive your Article of Organization, which is a document similar to the articles of incorporation that outline the initial statements required to form your LLC. You can then file with the IRS to receive your EIN (Employer Identification Number) to be eligible to open a business bank account for all expenses.

    1. Branding

Now that you have established your vision & successfully registered your business, you can now focus on branding. This encompasses everything from choosing your esthetic to locking in your trademarks (also known as legally claiming your custom content as your own). Another thing to keep in mind with branding is to keep your marketing strategy consistent, especially with regards to your social media accounts. For example, if you always sign a post off with a specific slogan or a cute kissy face, then ideally you will consistently do the same across all channels. This is a great way to stand out & give your followers something to both recognize & look forward to.
